    Orchard Skills Centre on Drake Street helps those who have been made redundant or have been unemployed for a length of time. In the first instance all learners are offered advice and guidance with one of the team. This helps tailor individual training needs to the most suitable course.  The training on offer is very diverse covering subjects such as IT, Health and Social Care, Catering and hospitality, Security, Sage Accounting and teaching.

    The team always monitors the progress of the learners once they have completed training. Here is a snapshot of several local people who have found employment soon after completing training with Training at Hopwood.

    RADAMA Summer School
    The Rochdale training provider network,RADAMA has completed a 4 week project aimed at preparing potential Apprentices for the world of work.

    Hannah lives Kingsway in Rochdale, she is 20yrs old and  was unemployed prior to her starting on the Routeways programme in Health and Social Care through Orchard Training Solutions/Hopwood Hall College.

    Andrew Kelly
    Andrew is 18yrs old and lives in Rochdale; he attended Hopwood Hall College in Rochdale on the full time Motor Vehicle course where he achieved a L2 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. Andrew knew he would welcome the opportunity for him to complete the Apprenticeship programme in Motor Vehicle, but struggled to secure employment in a garage.

    Beyond Bronze Tanning braved the recession to open its doors for the first time 15th January 2011. Several weeks before opening the salon, its Manager Christine Smith made contact with Orchard Training Solutions (Hopwood Hall College) to help support the salon’s early growth and training needs.
    Hopwood Hall College trainees do voluntary work to help improve the local environment.

    Hopwood Hall College has a highly successful Hair and Beauty division which has entered into partnership with Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council and local high schools to develop and implement a variety of Hair and Beauty progammes for 14-16 year olds.
    Earlier this year Orchard Training Solutions; Hopwood Hall College’s Employer Engagement Arm opened a new Skills Centre on Drake Street, Rochdale. The Centre was developed to help local residents who had been made redundant, back into work.

    On Wednesday 21st July 2010, Skills 4 U held a glittering award ceremony at the Civic Centre, Heywood to celebrate the success of all their learners. 
    Partnership organisations supporting people within the Borough of Rochdale have collaborated with Orchard Training Solutions (the employer engagement arm of Hopwood Hall College) to help inspire their employees into working more effectively with the local people they serve.

    Hopwood Hall College offers up to 4,500 pounds to employ apprentices!

    Training@Hopwood (The employer engagement arm of Hopwood Hall College) is currently offering employers incentives of £1,500 to recruit apprentices into existing teams. Employers can recruit up to 3 new apprentices under the incentive scheme.

    The offer is available to employers with fewer than 250 employees, who have not recruited an apprentice in the previous three years. The apprentice must be between 16-24 years of age.

    The aim from government is to get young people back into work, whilst supporting them in developing the skills they require for a successful career. The apprenticeship route via Hopwood Hall College offers an excellent boost to employers, improving the bottom line, competitiveness and overall cost effectiveness.
