North West Contractor of the Year
Joanne James, PLP Training and HR Manager
Rochdale-based construction company, and Hopwood Hall College client, PLP Construction Ltd won the prestigious honour of being 'North West Contractor of the Year' at the North West Regional Construction Awards. The awards were held at the new Beetham Tower Manchester Hilton Hotel on May 18th 2007.
Sponsored by the North West Regional Development Agency and hosted by Granada TV’s Lucy Meacock, the awards showcased the best and most innovative working practices and projects in the region. As an award winner, PLP will now be entered into the Constructing Excellence UK Awards being held in London in Autumn.
Joanne James, Training and HR Manager at PLP, said “It was an amazing experience to attend such a high profile event and be recognised for our contribution to the North West Construction Industry. Especially as we will be celebrating 25 years in the business in September. We have worked with Hopwood Hall for many years and have an excellent relationship with the College. They have helped us to maximise the potential of our employees through NVQs, Apprenticeships and On Site Assessment and Training.”
The Business Development Unit (Orchard Training Solutions) supported PLP in accessing Government funding through the Apprenticeship programme, the Employer Training Pilot and the new Train to Gain initiative to ensure they have a highly qualified workforce that is well prepared to meet the challenges of the Construction Industry in the future.
