The specially-tailored motivational workshops looked at ways in which people could increase the motivation of their service users; they are involved with these people on a daily basis and it is vitally important that their clients feel motivated to make the most of the services available to them.

Forty delegates from a wide range of organisations, including council services, voluntary services, charities and Job Centre Plus attended the course which took place at The Royal Toby Hotel, Castleton and was funded through the Learning Skills Council’s Health and Social Care Cluster Fund.

Sessions focused on how people work with service users and required delegates to look at their own practice and approach, exploring attitudes and perceptions of people in ever changing times. The large group then had the opportunity to evaluate the techniques they had learnt and also share experiences and ideas of working with vulnerable adults.

Overall feedback from the delegates was extremely positive, one delegate said, “Great and very informative session, the practical examples on how to motivate people worked really well”. In fact, the first session was so popular that it was oversubscribed to the extent that Orchard Training Solutions is arranging further workshops to meet the demand.
